February 21st 2016:
It's in the 50's here in PA! I don't even need to wear a jacket today. I hope this weather stays! But anyway, I'm back on a denim kick. I hope you're not getting sick of it, because I'm not! This will probably be my last denim outfit post for a while. So I've already worn a denim dress, denim shirt, and denim jeans so what's left? Well a denim skirt! Denim skirts have been making a come back for the past couple years. I honestly think the last time I wore a denim skirt was in 5th grade and it was an Abercrombie one and I wore it with leggings underneath. Do you remember when that was a huge trend? Ever since then, I've kind of stayed away from denim skirt because I always got that image in my mind. But they have been starting to grow on me and they are actually going to be really big in the spring and summer time. I think they are "cute" and "girly". A denim skirt can be worn in the summer with a little crop top and a pair of sandals. But since it's still winter, I styled my denim skirt a little differently. I wanted to keep my outfit minimal (hence the title) and simple. This denim skirt is a button up and it's semi A-line. It's also a stretchy fabric which is always a plus for movement and comfortably. Since the style of the skirt is on the A-line side, I wanted to wear a tight shirt that tucked in so it would keep the shape of my body and not look 'baggy'. I've been into turtlenecks a lot this winter so I paired this really pretty camel colored turtleneck with it. To keep my outfit a little on the chic side, I paired my knee high suede black boots. Overall this is a very girly, minimal outfit. Now when I think of denim skirts, this is what I will think of instead. Denim skirts are definitely something you want to add to your wardrobe. When spring and warmer weather comes around, I'll do another post on how to wear it in the summer. Also, since I'm wearing my hair up, I wanted to wear statement earrings. I do this to distract from my neck. Since my outfit is super simple, statement earrings worked perfectly. Always make a statement with your outfit even if it's in the accessories.
Side Note: As I'm looking up my outfit pieces... Forever 21 styled the skirt basically the same way I did. I honestly had no idea. How weird, lol.
